The Recycling Program created through a partnership between Eden Textiles and Africa We Care is dedicated to the empowering of women in Africa, in the main. The Program offers a wonderful opportunity that makes a tremendous difference in the lives of African people, while at the same time reducing vast amounts of post-consumer waste that would otherwise end up in the land fills across Canada.
Books for Africa — Uganda
Books for Africa is an ongoing project because the need for books in Africa is immense. We are thankful that the supply of books here in our warehouse in Edmonton is steady and unabated. What we lack is the funds to defray the freight costs to ship these books to the Africans thirsting for education. And we all know that education is the key to the alleviation of suffering in Africa, and to the empowerment of the African people.
Bras Across the Bridge
For two years in a row, Africa We Care has been the recipient of thousands of brassieres form 91.7 FM Radio Station in Edmonton, the Bounce. In its annual fundraising campaign dubbed “Bras Across the Bridge” in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation, the Edmonton radio station collects many thousands of brassieres. For every brassiere it receives, the radio station donates one dollar towards the fight against breast cancer.
