Leadership

The driving force behind the establishment of Africa We Care has been Chukwuemeka Obiajunwa, PhD. He currently serves in the capacity (unpaid) of Executive Director, as he has committed his time and considerable personal financial contribution to getting Africa We Care off the ground.

Obiajunwa is an international trade broker and consultant who has done business in the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia and the Scandinavian countries for over 17 years. He has traveled extensively all over the world on trade missions, visits and exhibitions. He has served on various federally and provincially sponsored trade missions to many countries.

It is his vision and drive that has laid the foundation upon which this organization is being built. "In 1998, I traveled to the Great Lake region of East Africa on business. There I came face-to-face with starving, skeleton-like people, sick with disease, and dying of thirst. I saw poverty in its most brutish, unforgiving form. I was horrified. For months, I was haunted by what I saw in East Africa when I returned to Canada.

"I felt strongly that I must do something to alleviate the suffering and human misery that I witnessed. I believe very firmly that there must be a better way to resolving the human tragedy that is Africa. Hence, the raison d'etre for Africa We Care!"
